Dr Jane Opie
Program summary
Dr. Jane Opie works in a part time capacity in the role of Medical Advisor for the organisation. She has lived and worked as a General Practitioner in the Geelong region for more than 15 years. Her background includes a Masters of Public Health (clinical epidemiology) and research involvement.
Her role is varied and includes providing a GP perspective when needed for the program officers and CEO of the organisation.
She is available to speak directly to GPs who may be concerned about the challenges they face in their work in general practice.She is able to present such concerns to the Board of the GP Association and look at ways of increasing the voice of local GPs. She is involved in the process of enhancing the quality and relevance of information communicated to local GPs by the GP Association.
She also represents the GP Association via liaison with groups that benefit from a local gp perspective such as the Deakin University Medical School and local hospital networks. In addition she aims to present the views of local GPs and the GP Association via local print and radio media.
